This book has been one of my personal favorites for a few years. Ever since I read it to my oldest child, and it caused me to laugh out loud, I instantly loved it. Lily is getting a baby brother, and she is very excited. However, once Julius arrives, Lily sees things are not turning out as she planned. With a fun story containing scenes in the "uncooperative chair" and two very flustered parents, this book is an enjoyable read. Surprisingly, Lily starts to come around towards the end of the story when she comes up against a cousin who feels the same way she does about babies. It does contain a lot of story for a picture book, so it might take some discussion and maybe a two day reading for some little ones. My middle child was 4 when he started to like it, repeating an enthusiastic, "Disgusting!" at key moments. The bonus for me is that Kevin Henkes is coming to Pittsburgh in February, so I am taking my oldest to get some books signed and to meet the author!
